Tuned an octave below the mandolin and with a guitar scale length (645mm), this instrument is ideal for song accompaniments or for melody playing with the volume and sustain almost that of a piano.

The way the instrument is strung depends on the player's preference but I like the sound of unison pairs rather than octave pairs.

Some players prefer a guitar-shaped body, which makes the instrument easier to hold when sitting. Shown here is the more popular traditional shape.
